Disarm the PTAN Revocation Traps Ensnaring Even Careful DME Suppliers

Andrea Stark, MiraVista LLC

The most persistent business risks in DME are rarely dramatic compliance failures. They are usually small operational gaps that quietly turn into payment disruptions, audit exposure, enrollment problems, and lost revenue.

Join MiraVista’s Andrea Stark for a practical discussion of the top risks suppliers are carrying without realizing it. Attendees will learn why these risks stay hidden, how to spot them in everyday workflows, and what they can do today to fix them before the damage is done.

In this session, attendees learn to:

  • Recognize top hidden business risks most DME suppliers overlook in daily operations.
  • Understand why these risks often go unnoticed until they trigger denials, site-visit findings, or enrollment problems.
  • Leave with practical steps they can take immediately to find and fix each risk.

Office Hours with Andrea: Ask Me Anything About DME Reimbursement!

Andrea Stark, MiraVista LLC

The typical conference session is 90-percent slide presentation and 10-percent audience questions. Office Hours with MiraVista’s Andrea Stark turns the norm upside down, starting with the questions in the room and the reimbursement challenges behind them.

Attendees make the agenda in real time. After a short icebreaker topic, Andrea opens the floor for a Q&A where the audience can pose their questions directly or anonymously.

Leave with practical solutions to real scenarios confronting you and your fellow DME suppliers.

Policy, Process, and the 90th Legislature: What DMEPOS Providers Need to Know

Laurie Vanhoose, Michelle Harper, and Maddy Richter-Atkinson  of Treaty Oak Strategies

With the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) under Sunset review and the 90th Legislature convening in January, DMEPOS suppliers have a unique window of opportunity to influence how Texas Medicaid policy is shaped and funded. In this session, Laurie Vanhoose, Michelle Harper, and Madeleine Richter-Atkinson of Treaty Oak Strategies walk through the regulatory and legislative landscape affecting durable medical equipment providers. The discussion begins with an overview of HHSC’s rulemaking authority and the policy levers available outside the legislative process, followed by a review of the HHSC Sunset process and what it could mean for the agency’s structure and oversight. Presenters will then preview the issues expected to shape the 90th Session, explain when a policy goal is best pursued through legislation versus the appropriations process, and provide a practical overview of how the state budget is built. Attendees will leave with a clearer understanding of where policy decisions are made and how to engage effectively at each stage.

The Modern HME Playbook for Operational and Margin Mastery

Dewey Roof, Valere Health

Most HME operators already own modern systems. The work still moves by hand. Orders wait for someone to chase documentation. Claims wait for someone to scrub them. Revenue moves because people push it.  Dewey Roof calls it Flintstoning. The car looks modern, but you are still moving it with your feet. This session gives operators a framework for fixing it, built from the years he spent running an HME himself.

Attendees leave with three things. First, a way to tell a platform from execution: platforms run the business, automation moves the work, AI sharpens decisions, and people stay accountable. That lets an owner place any tool they are being sold into the right layer and name the layer they are actually missing. Second, the five ways HME technology projects produce no EBITDA, including automating a broken process, buying a point solution with no owner, and measuring logins instead of labor hours per patient. Third, a margin read of their own P&L, walked line by line from contractual allowances through G&A, with the points of margin and the payback window attached to each line.

The session closes on cost, risk, and reward per line, so an operator leaves knowing where to start rather than what to buy. It is vendor neutral throughout. No product is demonstrated and no tool is recommended.

10:15 - 11:15a

Finding Balance: How AI and Humans work together in HME

Andrew White, NeruHealth

As AI becomes part of everyday business operations, the question becomes: Where can AI provide the most value and where does human experience, judgment, and connection remain essential? In this interactive session, attendees will explore practical opportunities to use AI in our industry, including streamlining administrative tasks, supporting staff, and improving workflows. Through real-world scenarios, we’ll consider where AI can help, where people need to lead, and how to assess potential benefits and risks before putting it into practice.
