Stanley Simkins

Stanley Simkins is the Founder, Executive Director, and a facilitator for Small Business Virtual Roundtables, LLC  (SBVR) which was formed during the Covid-19 Pandemic.  He is the Founder, Executive Director, and a facilitator for the Capital Region Family Business Resource Center, LLC (CRFBRC) since 2002. Formerly, he served as Executive Director and facilitator of the Siena College Family Business Institute in Loudonville, NY (1997 - 2002).

Stan recognized the growing demand for virtual, peer-to-peer advisory groups composed of small businesses owners.  Based upon the acceptance by small business owners of such virtual meeting tools as Zoom and Teams to operate their businesses, Stan embarked on a 2-year test to see how his own in-person group would respond to the virtual environment. Due to the pandemic, Stan saw a profound paradigm shift not ever likely to occur without the impact of the ‘Covid experience’ and proceeded to attract the largest subcontractor association in the United States (over 550 members) and formed his first virtual-only roundtable group in January 2022.

He is a recipient of the Small Business Administration’s “2004 Family Business Champion” award and has been deeply involved with small businesses, including family-operated, for over four decades as a management consultant, coach, and advisor to more than 200 businesses in over 80 industries.  Stan is the author of "Set Yourself Free – How to Have a Thriving Small Business… And Enjoy It!" that was published in 2011.
